Optometrists who use electrophysiologic testing in their practice, or are interested in adding it, now have more tools to choose from, as Diopsys preps two new launches this week.
First is a new flicker electroretinography (ERG) system called Retina Plus, which Diopsys says is compact and portable but can scale up to a full visual electrophysiology suite that includes multifocal, flash and pattern ERG, as well as visual evoked potentials. The second product is a new multifocal ERG module for use with the company’s Nova, Argos and Retina Plus platforms. The test records responses primarily from bipolar cells combined with contributions from photoreceptor cells to detect retinal functional losses due to maculopathies such as Plaquenil toxicity.
The manufacturer says these additions will add powerful new tools to help eye care specialists gather objective, quantifiable information about the function of the retina. Both products will be formally launched at the annual meeting of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery later this week.
