Since dryness is one of the prime culprits in contact lens dropout, a material that improves tear retention throughout the day should help encourage long-term wear. That’s the hope behind a forthcoming new lens from Bausch + Lomb called Infuse. Details are sparse, but a company press release touts Infuse’s good performance in oxygen transmission, all-day comfort and optics.
Infuse will feature a new silicone hydrogel material, kalifilcon A, that B+L says is designed to address unmet needs of contact lens wearers, especially concerning complaints of dryness. The lens is expected to launch in the second half of 2020, according to the company.
