If you have dry eye patients who experience the aqueous-deficient form of the condition or use lubricating drops four to six times daily, you may want to recommend they try a new option from Alcon, the company suggests. Called Systane Hydration PF, the product is a preservative-free artificial tear made with the moisturizing agent sodium hyaluronate. It also contains HP-guar, which Alcon says helps provide better moisture coverage and absorption by forming a web-like layer over the ocular surface. These two components are retained on the surface using a combination of inactive ingredients that Alcon calls HydroBoost.
Systane Hydration PF will become available online and at retail within the next few weeks, in packs of 30 single-use vials. The product was announced this morning during the SECO annual conference in Atlanta.
