When there’s a patient in the chair with a tricky problem and you could use some advice, there’s a new service that could help. Called Telasight, it was recently launched by several optometrists, including Drs. Kyle Cheatham, Greg Caldwell, Paul Karpecki, Richard Mangan, Lee Peplinski and Joseph Sowka.
The service allows you to conduct a professional consult remotely and securely, including the sharing of clinical data and images such as visual fields and OCTs. Telasight’s goal, the company says, is to help optometrists treat and manage more medical eye disease by providing users with instant second opinions while the patient is in their office. The new service goes live July 1st, 2020.
The company says doctors who use the service can reduce unnecessary referrals while building stronger doctor-patient relationships and increase medical insurance billing. Patients also benefit from the service by not having to travel far distances or pay additional copays to get a specialist’s second opinion.
Telasight is available on multiple platforms including Android, iOS and web-based browsers. The platform is 100% HIPAA compliant and each consultant has their own malpractice insurance. Unlimited consultations are available with a monthly subscription service at www.telasight.com and users can sign up now to reserve their spot.
