Could the increasing prevalence of cataract in farmed Atlantic salmon have implications for humans?
A study shows that the nutrient histidine, when removed from the salmon’s diet, increases cataract in combination with environmental stresses. When histadine is added to the fish’s food, cataract formation is prevented.
However, the study did not discuss the use of histidine for the reduction of cataract in humans.
Maybe it sounds fishy, but someone should investigate this.
